Let’s talk about cocktails, shall we? Everyone that knows me will confirm that I am a wine-lover. If we’re out to dinner or in a social setting, wine is normally my drink of choice. That being said, I love a good margarita.
I think that if I’m going to have a real cocktail, it should be fun. And frozen margaritas are basically grown-up slushies. Does it get more fun than that?!
I always feel like I shouldn’t order a frozen drink when we’re out somewhere. I’ve never been a bartender or worked in a restaurant, but I imagine it’s probably pretty annoying to have to blend up something frozen when you’re busy instead of mixing a quick, cocktail shaker beverage. Maybe that’s why I love my at-home margarita recipe so much. My dad has been making these for friends and family for years, and they are always a hit!
Quick. Simple ingredients. Delicious.
So… want to make them? All it takes is a can of frozen limeade, tequila, triple sec, a splash of lemon-lime soda and some ice. Oh, and a blender!
This is also an easy recipe to personalize to your liking. Add in some strawberries or mango if you want! Eliminate the alcohol and up the amount of lemon-lime soda to make a mocktail. Almost anything goes! Below is a super delicious Blackberry Margarita I made for an upcoming post… same recipe, just added a blackberry reduction to the blender too. Check back for the recipe in a few days!
Better Than the Bar Frozen Margaritas
Ingredients
- 1/2 can frozen limeade
- 3 oz tequila
- 1 1/2 oz triple sec
- splash lemon lime soda
- ice
- salt and lime wedges (optional for garnish)
Instructions
-
Scoop half of the can of frozen limeade directly to the blender. Add the tequila, triple sec and soda.
-
Add ice to the blender pitcher until it is about 2/3 of the way full. (Less ice=more liquid-y margarita. Adjust to your preference.)
-
Blend until no ice chunks remain. Pour immediately into glasses (garnished with salt and lime if desired).
Hope you enjoy!
Love,
just Mama (Hunter’s a little young for tequila…)
Yummmmmmmm, really want to try the blackberry ones!
